GUBI is a design house renowned for designing, developing and marketing a bold and elegant collection of furniture, lighting and home furnishings that resonates around the world. His signatures evoke emotion and tell meaningful stories that make them both timeless and lasting. GUBI brings together forgotten icons of the past and the classics of tomorrow. The result is a ghostly collection that spans nearly 100 years of history and is sold around the world.
Headquartered in Copenhagen's dockyards, GUBI's headquarters covers 2,000 square meters in a former tobacco factory converted into an expansive modern showroom in the attic. The GUBI Flagship Store is a 400 square meter visual design universe located in the heart of Copenhagen's shopping district. Both locations are carefully thought out and provide an atypical, colorful and memorable backdrop for the core of the GUBI collection. Bauhaus' Bestlite lamp, inspired by Robert Dudley Best, originally designed in 1930, sits comfortably next to the famous GetFratesi 2013 Beetle Chair. The GUBI chair - developed in collaboration with Komplot Design in 2003, the first of its kind to use 3D cladding technology and now part of the permanent MOMA collection - complements future design icons such as Epic Collection GamFratesi and Stay Collection Space Copenhagen.
Founded by his parents in 1967 - the year the current owner and creative director Jacob Gubi was born - GUBI initially focused on the family furniture and textile trade in the retail sector. Over the years, Jacob Gubi's creative vision and bold intuition have led GUBI to its current position in the global design scene through carefully curated renditions of high-quality furniture from around the world, as well as collaborations with both respected designers and archives and contemporary emerging talents.
